The Region Hannover pools certain tasks for the Hannover City and the 20 surrounding municipalities with a total of 1,2 million inhabitants. The Region Hannover which holds 51% is the biggest shareholder of the GVH is as majority shareholder and therefore responsible for the organization and financing of the public transport network for road and rail services.
üstra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG
The üstra is one of the oldest local public transportation companies throughout Germany. For more than 120 years the Hanoverian institution works for their customers. In the meantime nearly 1.900 people are employed and transport each year about 160 million passengers environment-friendly across the city and the surrounding area of the Leine metropolis Hanover.
regiobus Hannover GmbH
The regiobus with its workforce of more than 700 employees connects the communities and urban districts around the regional capital and functions simultaneously as the approach to the city center of Hanover. On 120 lines regiobus covers regularly and reliably an area which is three times bigger than Berlin.
Deutsche Bahn AG
300.000 employees are working for the Deutsche Bahn. With its subsidiary, the DB Regio, the widely spread network of the company becomes part of the GVH. With nine suburban railways and two local transport lines the company bridges as well large distances in the region and connects important venues.
metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH
The metronom as the largest private rail operator in Germany is as well part of the GVH: With 350 employees a turnover of 151,6 million € is generated, the double-decker trains transport every day more than 100.000 passengers. Within the GVH passengers can use the metronom for a fast connection on the north- south axis through the region. On the Hanover-Lehrte-Gifhorn-Wolfsburg line, the metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH is operating with its new regional enno trains.
The ultramodern local public transportation company covers with 25 rail cars the "Heidekreuz" from Bremen to Uelzen and from Hanover to Buchholz in the "Nordheide". Since December 2014 the erixx GmbH covers with 28 rail cars additionally the routes Hanover to Bad Harzburg, Bad Harzburg/Goslar to Braunschweig, Braunschweig to Uelzen and Lüneburg to Dannenberg.
Within the Hanover Region the GVH ticket is valid in the erixx and passengers can start their journey comfortably towards the most attractive local recreation areas in the region.
Westfalen Bahn GmbH
The regionally-based WestfalenBahn runs on the 600 km long Ems and Mittelland network since December 2015. There the company transports over 20 million passengers on three regional express lines in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. With 28 newly-built and modern multiple unit trains, the WestfalenBahn manages 5,4 million train kilometres per year and ensures with more than 300 employees security, punctuality and comfort.
