General obligation of wearing surgical masks in the GVH

Obligation to wear masks has been adapted

From 1 October 2022, passengers will be required to wear a surgical mask on buses and trains in the entire area of the GVH (Großraum-Verkehr Hannover). This is regulated by the new Lower Saxony Corona Ordinance. Previously, the wearing of FFP2 masks was mandatory. However, passengers are still recommended to wear an FFP2 mask. Announcements and information displays in stations, at stops and in vehicles draw attention to the new requirement. ÜSTRA and regiobus monitor compliance with the obligation.

Exempted from this regulation are children up to completing the age of 6 and persons whose disease makes wearing masks impossible. Those should hold a corresponding certificate, which can be presented to the inspection personnel upon request.

Likewise, surgical masks are mandatory inside the GVH customer centre from 1 October 2022.
