Frequently asked questions and answers on ordering for GVH subscribers and new customers

Four prerequisites must be fulfilled:

  • You have a Smartphone or Tablet (at least iOS V14.5 or Android 8 Oreo) on which, you can use the Mein GVH app.
  • You have completed at least 16 years of age.
  • You have a personal email address, which you use for ordering the Deutschland ticket using apply for subscription as well as your registration on the Mein GVH app. The email address shall be required for the proper assignment of your Deutschland ticket.
  • As the contracting partner, you are an adult, are resident in Germany and possess a european bank account, which is approved for a SEPA direct debit.

Yes, that can be done. The order for the Deutschland ticket through "apply for subscription" must always be placed by an adult (at least 18 years old, for example, a guardian), so that full legal capacity is guaranteed.

You can then declare in the “Nutzer:in” field under personal data that the ticket holder is not the contracting partner and tick: “Fahrkarte ist für eine andere Person”. Enter that person’s data, to whom the ticket should be issued. It is important here that the email address of the user has to match with the email address in the "Mein GVH app" so that the ticket can be shown. If there is a different user for a Deutschlandticket product for which proof of eligibility is required (e.g. Deutschlandticket Hannover social), the proof of eligibility of the user must be uploaded in the order process.

If the alternative user is older than 16 years of age, you can register independently in the "My GVH App" with the e-mail address given when ordering online via ‘Abo beantragen’, and use the ticket.

If the deviating user is under 16 years of age, a parent or guardian can register in the "My GVH App" and place the online order. Please make sure that you use the same e-mail address for both the order and the registration. Please also ensure that you use an email address that you have not already used for another order (e.g., for yourself).

In principle, it is possible to change an e-mail address subsequently. However, as your email address must be identical when ordering and registering, it is not sufficient to change the e-mail address independently in the Mein GVH App, it must match the e-mail address when ordering. Therefore, please contact your colleagues at the GVH Customer Centre via email to info@gvh.de to change data. Please also note that the change will take about two working days.

No, the Deutschland ticket is a personalised ticket and therefore, can be used exclusively by one person. Taking along additional persons is also not possible with a simple Deutschland ticket. It is of course possible to continue with your existing subscription if you prefer. Then you don’t have to do anything; your subscription shall continue with the current conditions.

The Deutschland ticket is not available as a monthly ticket in individual sale, but only with subscription. However, if at any time you should not wish to continue using the Deutschland ticket, you have the option to cancel your subscription monthly.

If you already have a Deutschland ticket subscription with another service provider and would now like to switch to GVH, you should cancel your existing subscription. It is necessary to follow the respective specific termination periods or modalities. The Deutschland ticket can then be purchased from GVH as Described.
