ÜSTRA ticket machines
No cash purchase of tickets at surface stops until further notice
There have often been blasts of ÜSTRA ticket machines in the past. The ÜSTRA has now come to a conclusion and is stopping the cash purchase of tickets at the 218 surface stops for the time being until further notice to avoid the risk of material damage and personal injuries. The ÜSTRA would also like to ensure by this measure that passengers can access sufficient ticket machines at the stops. Yet, 20 ticket machines were completely destroyed from the beginning of December. By now, the material damage amounts to 800,000 Euro.
The way to your ticket
You can continue to make contactless payments for your tickets with the usual credit cards and Girocard (EC card) at the surface stops of ÜSTRA.
Of course, you can still buy tickets with cash in the GVH customer centre in Karmarschstraße (opening hours Monday to Friday, 09:30 A.M. to 08:00 P.M., Saturday 09:30 A.M. to 06:00 P.M.) and at the numerous of outlets and in buses of ÜSTRA and regiobus. All of the approximately 100 outlets in the region are listed here. The option to pay with cash continues to be there at the ticket machines in all the tunnel stations also.
